Highway 1 is a stunning drive down the Central Coast and makes for a great day trip or overnight trip from Monterey. The Big Sur State Park is a popular place to camp or hike and the nearby beach is much photographed. To get to Pfeiffer Beach, take Highway 1 about 27 miles south of Carmel. About one mile past the entrance to the state park and campground is Sycamore Road. Drive down this road about 2 miles to this spectacular beach.
