Pebble Beach California
The exclusive community of Pebble Beach is located on the Monterey Peninsula, between Pacific Grove and Carmel. Besides having outrageously magnificent homes, there are four world class golf courses there and three very expensive resorts. Though golfing is the area's main claim to fame, it is also where the well known 17 Mile Drive Monterey winds its way through the Del Monte Forest. This area of scenic beauty is graced with pine groves, designer mansions and the sea.
Some famous scenic spots include the Lone Cypress which juts out alone and defiant on a rocky outcropping, Fanshell Overlook where seals congregate (closed in spring during seal pupping season), and Bird Rock where pelicans and sea lions hang out.
Everything here is private, with the exception of the 17 Mile Drive, some paths for jogging, and some horse trails. Other than that, you need to pay a lot to enjoy the resort facilities. There is a market next to the Lodge where you can buy gourmet picnic items to enjoy along the drive.
The only way to get into this exclusive community is through one of its guarded gates. There's an entrance fee, but it is refunded if you are a guest at the Inn at Spanish Bay, or dining there. The Carmel Gate is on Ocean Avenure. Go west from Highway 1 and turn right on San Antonio. The Pacific Grove Gate and the Country Club Gate are both off of Sunset Drive in
Pacific Grove.
Amidst all this beauty are some of the finest greens in the world on which to play golf. Some of the famous local golf courses include Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Cypress Point Golf Course and the Links At Spanish Bay.

In August, two popular events take place, the Scottish Highland Games and the Concours d' elegance, which is a festival of classic cars held at the Lodge.
