The La Playa Hotel Carmel

One of the local Historic Hotels of America is the La Playa Hotel Carmel. Once a private mansion designed in 1902 by a Norwegian painter named Jorgenson, the La Playa has undergone refurbishments and is now a beautiful hotel with 80 rooms.

Some of the rooms have ocean views, and some have fireplaces. There are mostly one bedroom units, but there are also a couple of one bedroom suites with ocean views, and five cottages known as Cottages-By-The-Sea. These come equipped with kitchens and wood-burning fireplaces.

Outside, there is a large, landscaped garden, a heated outdoor pool, and a gazebo. And the beautiful blue Carmel Beach is within walking distance, just two blocks away.

Garden Spa Treatments are available. Also, the Terrace Grill Restaurant offers indoor as well as heated outdoor seating.
