The breakfasts can vary; before you go, check to see if they offer full hot breakfasts, simple continental ones or something in between.
The buildings themselves can also vary between historical mansions to small quaint cottages. In general, bed and breakfasts have fewer rooms than a regular hotel.
Most bed and breakfast Monterey inns tend to cater to couples or singles, but a few will welcome families as long as the children don't act too rambunctious, destroying the peace of the other guests or breaking the antiques. Most families would have more fun on their vacation at a hotel or resort that welcomed families.
